10 to 16 NOVEMBER 2008
The 12th “National Balloon Week” is taking place from 10th – 16th November
2008. NABAS The Balloon Association Ltd and its members will be championing
the balloon and party industry by organising national and local events
that highlight the versatility of applications and market opportunities
that balloons can offer. Competitions, Balloon Releases and
Special Events all form part of the week’s festivities, which are being
organised by the Members of the Association around the country.
The events will culminate on Sunday 16th November with the NABAS “Festival
of Balloon Art” at the NAC in Stoneleigh Park near Coventry – tickets and
further information for this event can be acquired from the NABAS office

Balloons really are big business; millions of balloons are sold in the
UK every year and the sector as a whole is thought to be worth in excess
of £80 million. The industry also employs a rapidly growing workforce
with the emergence of many new entrepreneurial companies. NABAS
– The Balloon Association Ltd, est. 1987, the only independent trade association
for the industry actively encourages and supports this annual promotion.
The events of National Balloon Week are designed to draw the public’s
attention to the vast array of possibilities that balloons offer for entertainment,
fun and business & charitable promotions.

Design & Portfolio Day
The NABAS Design & Portfolio Day is a combination of instruction
with hands-on tuition to create the party décor. All
levels of ability are welcome, however, we would recommend that all beginners
have attended as a minimum a NABAS approved Basics or similar.
All delegates attending the D&P day will be given the opportunity to
work on a selection of projects of their choice to ensure maximum benefit
from this fun and amazing hands-on learning opportunity. All
sessions are open to all levels of ability with many techniques, tips &
hints being shared throughout the day and delegates will receive a D&P
Day Workbook containing a complete set of designs and recipes plus a CD
of photographs of the designs created during the day. Please
remember to bring both scissors and a camera! We guarantee
whether you are a beginner, just about to launch your career in balloon
art, or a more seasoned balloon artist you will gain a great deal of knowledge
from this day as well as having a huge amount of fun!
This is an extremely popular annual NABAS, each year the design team
and delegates take the decor to a new level with many compliments from
the party attendee's! It is also proving to be the industries favourite
event so book early to avoid disappointment and don't forget to take advantage
of the delegate discount to attend what is one of the best parties in the
industry with a fantastic live band, tasty wine, great food and awesome
decor!
Dinner & Party – Saturday 15th November 2008 (fancy
dress)
Come and party the night away to “Grand Central”, a fantastic live
5-piece band. The room will have been decorated by all those
attending the Design & Portfolio Day, and if last years event is anything
to go by the décor will certainly have that je ne sais quoi, and
the party will buzz with va va voom. Be prepared for a wicked
night!!! Ticket price includes a three course meal, wine, live band
, entertainment & VAT.
